AML Changes for Accountants: What This Means For You

Bought to you by Alannah Brown - Client Services Coordinator

As of 1st July 2026, recent Anti-Money Laundering (AML) changes have come into effect for all accounting firms across Australia, meaning additional responsibilities when it comes to verifying client information and maintaining our records.

The AML regulations are designed to help protect businesses and Australia’s financial system, and the new requirements mean we may need to collect more detailed information than we have previously.

Next Steps

Over the coming weeks, we may reach out to request additional information or confirm details that we already have on file. This could include your ID documents, Trust Deed and Company Constitution.

Even if you’ve been a client with us for a long time, we will need to review and update the information we hold to ensure our records remain accurate and compliant with the new requirements.

To help make this a smooth process, this is a great time to review your files, ensure your business records are up to date and make sure you’ve got copies of your Trust Deeds & Company documents on file.

As part of our compliance with AUSTRAC, not having this information on file may cause delays in us being able to provide certain services until we can verify identity documents.

We’re Here To Help

We really appreciate your cooperation and understanding as these changes have been introduced, and our team is committed to making this process as smooth as possible for you. As always, if you have any questions at all regarding these changes and how they may affect you, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
